Abrasive Wear Failure of SEBS Endoscope.pdf
This case came to mind recently when I saw an FTIR analysis of a synthetic wine cork coated with SEBS, presumably for holding power in the wine bottle neck. It took me a moment to recall which case the SEBS cork was reminding me of. When I recalled this device failure analysis, I found it amusing how similar the geometries are. I thought my connections might also enjoy these parallels.
I recently made the decision not to renew my lease on the Everett lab space. I am looking for schools that would benefit from donated test equipment as well as Lab/Test/Process/Quality/Supplier Engineering roles where I can continue to make a positive impact. I will continue posting educational content and offering some consulting support for MAPL clients as time permits.
Everett has been great and will miss it. I met many amazing new clients and helped solve some interesting problems. Thank you to all who brought me interesting puzzles over the past few years. Helping clients improve their products has been the most rewarding work I've done. My most impactful work (and primary goal in founding my company) has been helping Washington businesses with quality audits and corrective actions. My efforts have helped many clients understand why their materials are not behaving according to the vender specifications and exposed several erroneous materials testing scams. Children are less likely to be poisoned by their clothing/toys and we're a little bit safer every time we travel, have a power outage, or have various medical procedures. Some of my favorite memories in this building are of the simple things done to maximize the usability of the space. Silly things like revamping the reception desk, installing mailboxes, running conduit, patching ethernet panels. So much of my work is deeply critical/technical, these remodeling and laboratory setup projects were a welcome break! The proprietorial feeling you get standing behind the reception counter as a shop owner is rather fun/unique. I hope to have the opportunity to set up more laboratory spaces in the future. It has been a privilege to serve the community these past 5 years. Looking forward to continued contributions and new possibilities. -Kris Weisshaupt Principal Materials Scientist - MAPL |
